bloody bbc got my hopes up this year with the appearance of james toseland on the adverts for SPOTY, i thought he might be nominated... but no rather than put a succesful british sports person up (he's two-times world superbikes champion and moving to motoGP next year) they put a bunch of failures up for the award ...

well it's been a weird weekend in some ways...
i went over to liverpool to visit my cousin and as we're both into metal we decided to go out to the krazy house (the big rock/metal club, 3 floors). and it's changed a lot in the 5 years since i was last there and i don't think it's just my own development in musical taste. when i first went there i thought the ground floor was far to heavy, but last night it was really light. we ended up on the second floor ( due to his gf) and it was even lighter playing indie, which is a dmn shame cause i had such a laugh there last time. The other thing that really pissed me off was the change in clientèle, there was sod all atmosphere and thus a distinct lack of etiquette.

thus i propose we need to take our clubs back from these scum, how i've yet to think of, so might as well open the forum for discussion.

secondly leaving do is this coming weekend ie sat 29th so.. as a start drinks in the auld hoose from 8. spread the word.

well made it back, an din less than half a day i wish i was back on the road again. This damn city at this time of year makes me want to commit harm to everyone i see on the street,after a week and a half of complete freedom this i did not need.

well parents left yesturday, so after a day to recover i've started the ball rolling on the rebuild of my inherited honda Z50M

so far.... ordered forms from DVLA to get a license plate, bought a bit of foam to act as the airfilter (£1), some lead additive (old school) ,also ordered a new exhaust (as mine is rusted out) and some tank rubbers. just gotta book it in for a service and an MOT and the road will be my playground again :P

made a decision today.... i accepted a Phd at leeds and turned down one at edinburgh. unfortunately the one at edinburgh was with my current supervisior and the way he reacted was if i'd just stuck his favorite puppy in a fire. so now i feel like shit. :(

well after a trying day i'm finally on my way back to the burgh. it all started going down hill when i caught the bus back to the airport after the interview, and it started to snow heavily..... for the record it's not much fun when a buss goes sideways up a hill. then having got to the airport they'd just closed the runways..... ok so i thought it'll be delayed a bit

4 hrs later they gleefully inform us the flight is cancelled. no offer of food/conveiniences in this time frame either/.

oh and the one flight on saturday fills up faster than a nappy with shits wanting to watch the rugby. then as i get to the desk i'm informed that the next flight they can put me on is sunday and they're not gonna pay for accommodation. not amused fails to cover my rage at this point(i'd also been up since 5am, which counts as a mitigating factor).... mass murder would have barely calmed me down. no apology either and the smirk on the girl at the desk's face makes me want to kill every one in nottingham with an icepick.

so i manage to get a hotel (out of my own pocket) and devised the train route home, which pretty much brings us up to date

Crapping a brick atm, mainly cause I've got an interview tomorrow and because of me supervisor causing 9-6/7 days in the lab I've done no preparation, ah well gonna have to do some in the airport terminal (about the only advantage of a 2 hr check in window 8-) ) . then joy of joy's i've got to produce a powerpoint presentation over the weekend, for another interview on tuesday.....

is a day off to much to ask?

thought I'd best make a post before my interest in the whole Lj thing dies to just surfing my friends pages. starting my dissertation project tomorrow yey? looking forward to 10 weeks basically putting a very fine multimeter into cells and looking at the effects of various conditions, i ken this isn't particularly interesting to the layman but should hopefully spawn some good results.

still havn't drawn the 7 hand drawn graphs the CO wants for my write up due on monday but think i'm gonna get some tracing paper and trace the points and scales off the computer graphs :P

Think i'm on top of my workload atm but feels like i'm tapdancing on quicksand, so probably arn't. plus the course organiser is being a dick about things being done "his way" and it prbly wouldn't be an issue if i didn't know better (faster) on how to get the computer software to do things.

I think the biggest shitburger has been my "dead cert" PhD has fallen through cause the university of nottingham has revoked the supervisors funding, and as the other supervisior he now has to work with doesn't want me (apparently not enough organic chemistry and synthesis), hes thrown me a bone with a biochem PhD which isn't anywhere like what i want to be doing. (sorry if the above doesn't make sense, it's been a long day).

ah well, guess i'll have to make a few more applications...
